Nottinghamshire villages for families: low crime, schools and parks nearby
Eight Nottinghamshire villages where recorded crime is low and there are several schools and parks within reach, from the official data.
Plenty of Nottinghamshire villages are quiet; fewer are quiet and still have several schools and parks within easy reach. These eight combine all three. Recorded crime below is the count of street-level crime and anti-social behaviour reports in about a one-mile radius of each village centre, for the 12 months September 2025 to August 2026 (police.uk). Schools, parks and GP distances are measured over the wider area PlaceFit uses around each centre.

Worth knowing
- Keyworth and Edwinstowe have a GP surgery in the village; for the others the nearest is a short drive.
- Edwinstowe sits on the edge of Sherwood Forest: over half the land around it is green space or woodland.
- Gunthorpe is beside the Trent and about 30% of nearby postcodes include homes at medium or high flood risk. Check the specific address.
- Lambley also has addresses in some parish postcodes that sit in medium or high long-term flood risk areas for rivers, sea or surface water (Environment Agency open postcode risk data: 8 of 24 matched Lambley parish postcodes include at least one such address). Check the specific address on the Environment Agency’s long-term flood risk service.
- Crime counts for small villages cover the area around them (about one mile in the table above), so they can include nearby towns’ records. Neighbouring villages such as Tollerton, Plumtree and Keyworth sit close together and can share some of the same surrounding area. Halam (16 reports) is far quieter on this measure than nearby Southwell (280 reports) over the same 12 months.
